How To: Starting Your First Garden
Posted by Jess Goodwin on 22 Mar 2022
Spring is officially here! Everyone is pulling out their gardening supplies to plant their herbs, veggies, fruits and flowers. You may have always wanted to garden like your neighbors but starting has always been the hardest part.
We’re here to help!
Where to plant:
To start, pick a place that is perfect for plants - a nice sunny spot in your back or front yard would work great. No space? No problem! You can do some urban gardening using a raised garden that is perfect for small spaces or those without a yard, such as the 3-Level Herb & Flower Garden Planter or the Raised Patio Garden with Storage.
What to plant:
Starting out, it might be best to plant some easy-to-care for plants like radishes, lettuce, bush beans, basil, carrots or tomatoes. These all have growth cycles under 100 days so you don’t have to wait ages to see results of your hard work!
How to Plant:
Once you have decided where to plant and what to plant, now's time to hit the ground running! This might involve a little research as every plant differs. First, find out the best soil to use for what you are trying to grow and any other tips and tricks you can find that will help grow the best seedings you can! Then plant it! Finally, create a schedule/reminder for when to water the plants. This will help ensure they get water regularly. Then watch them grow! Maybe even, plan a dish or two using your fresh veggies or herbs.
