How to Develop Skills & Get the Winter Wiggles out Indoors

Jack Frost has officially swept his way into winter (in most places). His winds might make it too cold for your little ones to get their energy out outside, so it is time to bring the fun inside. Take a look at some of the best ways to tucker out those toddlers while they also develop important skills.
Gross Motor Play
Gross motor play is a way for your little one to gain skills and develop the muscles in the arms, torso, and legs. This can be a tough thing to accomplish when you are stuck inside for the winter. But there are some items that just might make this easier. Simplay3’s Young Explorers Indoor/Outdoor Activity climber is small enough to fit through a standard doorway while also being the perfect size to climb, slide, and crawl on.
Simplay3’s Wiggle Chairs also develop gross motor skills. You may be wondering; “How? Isn’t it just a chair?” Yes, but with a curved base, this stool allows for wiggles and giggles to come out while your child stays seated. These chairs are especially beneficial for a child with ADD, ADHD, and/or Autism who tends to fidget.
Collaborative Play
Collaborative play is another important part of a young child’s development. They learn how to work with others to accomplish a task as well as gain communication skills needed for the collaboration process. A perfect example of this is Simplay3’s Rock & Roll Teeter Totter. Like most teeter totters, the kids sitting on it must work together to get it moving.
Another great toy is the Rocking Bridge. It holds up to four children who work together to rock the boat. Tired of rocking? Flip it over for perfectly-sized little stairs to climb.
With collaboration there can also be competition. Competitive play is important, and starting young with this type of play teaches them how to win or lose. A great way to start that development is with the Fast Track Downhill Raceway from Simplay3. With dueling tracks, this raceway is a perfect way for your child to compete with themselves or with others using cars, trucks, balls, and other toys.
